A wife WANTS her husband to play poker…

<prior discussion of crap my wife wants to buy>
Amy: i am going to have to ammend that to 4 things-it is getting really hard to get the tv to turn on-even with the remote
Me:
75k points, baby
Amy: how long does it take to get thatmany points?
Amy: becauseif it is actually feasible i would work towards it
Me: a while at my stakes
Me: I could maybe do 4k points a month
Me: well, I guess I don’t know that
Me: hard to tell with the different rates at different levels
Me: I might be able to do it in a year if I worked at it for a year
Me: but hopefully by then, i would have made enough money to just buy one
Me: if I didn’t, it would be truly depressign
Amy: how many points do you have now
Me: 2100
Me: I’ve only really been playing there a month
Me: you could get it at full tilt too, but I think it takes more points and the points are slower to get
Amy: probably our best chance-no real choice as we can’t afford to buy one
Me: yep, they only have a 42″ and a 50″
Me: the 42 is 300k points
Me: at stars, the 37″ is 75k
Me: if I kept my money in there and was able to move up in stakes, it would take less time
Me: either that, or I can start playing omaha tournaments
Me: the 40″ at stars is only 110k points
Amy: 32 would be fine
Me: 37
Amy: all right-when you are playing poker and i get annoyed-say tv and i will leave you alone
Me: http://www.pokerstars.com/fpp/store/electronics/
Me: oh, you are right
Me: 32
Me: thought it was 37 for some reason
Me: 26″ is 50k but that is smaller than our current one

So there you have it. You all are my witnesses. I have an open invitation to play poker. If she is serious, it may change my plans and goals from the previous post, but I’m not gonna complain…

Revelations – Back in Black

Published by under Poker

I’ve determined my decline in poker recently has every bit to do with Amy’s loss of hair. Tuesday evening she got her hair cut and, since then, I’ve run an abysmal -35ptbb/100. I did have a monthly profit running of over $950 before then and somewhere in the range of 19ptbb/100. A prime example of running good prior to the hair cut, and one after the hair cut.

She does look nice, but locks of love can kiss my ass. She needs to have her hair back.

Truth be told, as I looked through the hands, there were a lot of misplayed hands (FPS) with people who aren’t capable/willing to fold, a lot of missed coin flips and 60/40s and a lot of people hitting their draws. I read on sbrugby’s blog today about traits of great players and it got me thinking about that. I by no means think I’m a great player, but I do think I’m better than most people at the games I play and should be a winning player there. When I’m playing well, I can make good calls and also good laydowns and I’m not doing that right now.

Got a new goal now. I’m going to stay at full tilt until I can get my 100s game back in the black. Last night after I went on massive tilt to what I was thinking were a ton of beats and missed opportunities, I tightened up and seemed to play pretty well. I didn’t make money after that point, but I was really card dead. I was making good reads and good plays, and more importantly, trying to keep from putting myself into situations where I would need to make good reads and good plays. I did get some respect at the table when I was raising though, so I think the players there were paying attention. Something that didn’t seem to happen at stars. Playing tighter will also give me some time to get some reads and make some notes on the players which I’ve been doing more lately. It hasn’t paid off much yet, but it at least gets me thinking and evaluating the players at my table.

So there it is. As of right now I’m -$382 at the $100 short handed game at full tilt over all the hands I’ve played there, not just this month. My goal, is to get that to a positive number and I’m pretty sure I can do it. I just need to tighten up until I get some reads. Play some ABC poker and hope my luck turns around. My plan of action may include me going to some different games to build my full tilt bankroll back up, but I’m hoping to have that back to a decent number within the month. Wish me luck.

YouTube New Features.

Ok, all that crap is cool and all and I’m sure it will really be nice for the users, but why is it that it STILL doesn’t have something as simple as an RSS feed? Google can’t come up with a way to build a simple little xml file? I seriously don’t get it, but truth be told, it’s not surprising. Even their applications that do use rss, don’t seem to get it right.

Perfect examples are how the picasa web albums feed sucks. The feed tells you when an album is updated, but you still need to go into the album to see any new pictures. Annoying. Perhaps this has been fixed, but I wouldn’t know cause it was too pointless the way it was for me to use the feature.

Blogger, once the evhead brain child that was thee blogging solution, has seriously messed up how the comments feed works and was even really late to the game with offering such a solution. To give them credit, it sucks less now than it did when they introduced it, but it still sucks.

The odd thing is, you can search for youtube content from google video and google video HAS rss feeds, and to be honest, they seems to work pretty well. How hard could it be to bring the feature over? Don’t get me wrong, I love google and they make some killer apps but seriously, google, step up and get the small stuff right.

Holy fucking winrate adjustment, Batman. That’s right, in one evening I went from a winrate of 19ptbb/100 to 10ptbb/100 at the 100s. I am seriously going to hate clearing this bonus at full tilt. One more day like this, though, and full tilt can take their bonus and cram it up their cartoon avatared asses. I’ll go back to stars. Winning beats a bonus any fucking day. Hear that, Jesus? Boomswitch me or I’m splittin.

Do you have to sacrifice a donkey to get in the good graces of the poker gods? I forget…

Jenn Harman Looking very Unabomberish

Jennifer Harman, originally uploaded by pokerwire.

I just thought this was an interesting photo, but it did remind me of a lot of the reports that I’ve been hearing about the abnormally cold rooms at the WSOP this year. I have yet to hear why, but I’m assuming it’s to keep up with the large number of bodies that are there. Still one would think they could do a better job of regulating the temperatures to a more comfortable level.
